When Time Stands Still

When passion’s course has exhausted desire

And the soul rests at the side of a trusted lover.

As the silence is broken by the breech and cry of an infant’s entrance into the world,

Enfolded by arms of a mother whose breasts offer comfort

Following the pain and travail of labor.

Standing at the precipice of a mountain overlook

After an exhaustive climb or treacherous maneuvering through a boulder strewn path.

As the last of personal belongings is loaded to move, a house swept clean,

and tears of sorrow and relief mingle with a goodbye that crushes the heart

while promising a distant freedom not before known.

In the shadow of realizing a relationship once thought to be the essence of life

Is now nailed shut in the vacuum of a coffin to be buried

and a life once shared, will only be revisited in memorium.

At first breath of a new day

Facing a sunrise where ocean waves crash and roll

Across a battered shore, soothing deep furrows of concern into glistening platters

Offering polished treasures of cast-offs awaiting reclamation.

As the pure tones of a lone bird inquires what a new day will hold

Waiting for the reply of others who will join in answering.

Captivated and carried on pure and purposeful tones of skillful musicians,

Mesmerized by a conductor’s movement within movements,

Floating within a higher plane of resonance.

When the final chapter of a story has pressed it’s last word into script

And its release to a scrutinizing world of readers is imminent.

At the juncture of believing again in the power of the Miraculous

When the unchangeable is perceptibly transformed.

Knowing beyond doubt there is a God whose universe is too vast to fully comprehend.

At the boundary of an overlook where the air is rare and the view refined,

After inhaling, captivated by the promise of new beginnings.

When in standing alone, there is an awareness of never being alone again

But filled to overflowing with an inner strength and

peace that passes all understanding

Breathless , speechless

Where eternity cannot be denied.

Time stands still

Past, Present and Future

 a Continuum

of living marrow with every joint and sinew in place.

When Time Stands Still

But for a moment
